Urban air mobility is no longer science fiction.

eVTOLs – electric vertical takeoff and landing helicopters – are emerging as a new frontier in transportation .

Designed to be quieter, cleaner and more economical than traditional helicopters, these aircraft promise to transform the way we travel:

  • urban shuttles between city center and airport,

  • on-demand mobility services ,

  • rapid medical evacuations ,

  • and tomorrow, an alternative to the classic taxi in large cities.

But beyond the promise, many challenges remain:

  • regulatory integration in airspace,

  • adapted infrastructure (vertiports, charging systems),

  • interoperability of systems between traditional air, rail and urban transport,

  • separation of the traveler and their luggage (pre- and post-transport).

  • social acceptability in the face of safety and noise issues.

eVTOL is not just a technological innovation: it is a new mobility paradigm , which requires information systems architects and authorities to rethink multimodal coordination and real-time flow management .

In conclusion: eVTOLs pave the way for more accessible and sustainable air mobility , but their success will depend as much on information and regulation systems as on the aircraft itself.
